Book Arrows: " The Hunger Games: Team Peeta"

"may the odds be..."

I have read and finished "The Hunger Games"...

Uhuh.. uhuh... It does not sound like me, right???....
Being a certified all-Filipino book reader, this a big leap of fate for me... hence, my first ever Book Review and in honor of THG I would call this segment "Book Arrows"... eeeeeeeee

I really do not know the reason behind I instantly had the urge to read it... maybe because of the hype and the buzz about the movie (which I promptly watched and super liked...)... maybe I'm too excited to know what will happen to Katniss and Peeta's pseudo-romance - of course, I'm team Peeta, if there was one... or maybe I just want to live my self-inducted title as a Popularist... or maybe...  just maybe

Anyways, as the book who took away my innocence in modern English-literature, I pretty much enjoyed the experience and breezed through it with relative ease... Suzanne Collins instantaneously occupied a special space in my heart. She portrayed each scenes with distinctive clarity and vividly described every moment in the book (maybe watching the movie first did a little help)...  Her choice of words is simple, direct yet non-committal... I need not to dig deep within the bowels of my lexical asylum to understand what she meant... and the first person narration and single perspective of Katniss made the transitions and turn-arounds more smooth and unforced... all-in-all this Book is definitely an A-list on my own standards...

Going to the more serious issue... I am Team Peeta all the way...
I mean, I feel for Peeta... he did not pretend-  not for the show, not for his survival... He did it all for love and love alone... And, he did tried his best to save Katniss in his own ways... even sacrificing himself in more ways than one... so he deserve his happy ending no matter what...

And the kiss (kisses in the book)... it was sort of his life line... and finding Katniss did not meant it (or denying the true meaning of it) is like being killed in the Arena with a thousand muttations, thrice... that could break a heart of stone into pieces...

In the book, Katniss has more detailed romantic and emotionally confused adventures with Peeta than with Gale... Sure, Gale and Katniss were childhood friends but my limited imagination could not comprehend what history could they have... For a book, details literally makes the difference of who is who... the author would not waste that number of pages for nothing, 'em I right???

This is for other team Peeta members... exclusively... courtesy of tumblr...
Just between the two of us... I am secretly going through the second book... Ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh... wehehehehehe...
I can't help myself... this last line from Book 1 had me flipping...
"I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras,
and dreading the moment when I will finally have to let go. "
Oh... and my rating.... half an arrow...
"ever in your favor..."

  1. Nice review! I must agree. The lines were simple, but the meaning conveyed made up for it. :)

But, I'm not so sure about the Peeta thing. Seems like Katniss was kissing an injured friend. Lol. Peace.
